Biography

Littleton S. Irby is a contemporary visual artist based in Emeryville, California. His multidisciplinary practice encompasses painting, mixed media, collage, photography, sculptural objects, and altered mannequins.

Working through saturated color, gestural marks, layered surfaces, and found materials, Irby explores identity, memory, emotional transformation, and the shifting relationship between beauty, darkness, and light. Faces and figures frequently emerge from abstraction, while his mannequin works transform anonymous commercial forms into psychologically charged presences.

Moving between two- and three-dimensional work, Irby approaches each surface as a site of discovery. His practice is distinguished by intuitive composition, direct emotional expression, and an ongoing investigation of how color and material can reveal states that are difficult to express through language.
